It's India's Independence Day today. I am delighted and rejoicing like my fellow Indians. But today one song is going round and round in my head.
It's an AR Rahman song from the movie 1947 Earth (impeccable movie and acting by Aamir Khan, deserves an applaud). The song plays in the end credits. Its a great composition but the lyrics sends chills down my spine whenever I listen to it.

I wish to digress from here on.
Sure India has got Independence but she is still to get freedom from a lot of things like caste, creed, religion, race, ethnicity etc etc which we are better off.
We are free but from what? We are fighting unemployment, gender inequality, malnutrition and the greatest curse given to humanity which is religion.
Has God put these labels on us? Does God really wants us to kill and hate each other for the sake religion? Which holy book supports spread of hatred? Can't we see another person as just a fellow species in the animal kingdom.A sinner can come from any religion, it has to do with the upbringing, likewise a saint can also emerge from any religion, again it is dependant on a person's surroundings, values embibed upon him/her.
Well, on a death bed, no one asks, "What's your caste? People have become outrageously stupid these days. Humbug I would say. And I wish people come out of these man made labels and be free. Then we will be really free.
God is one. We are one. Let's stop fighting in the name of religion. Research says the one feature which distinguishes humans from other species in the animal kingdom is their brain, their mind. Use the gift which has been given to you by God. Instead of plotting revenge against each other, come up with solutions to resolve conflicts.
Happy Independence Day. May this world unite,may we exist on this beautiful planet as one and spread peace, compassion and happiness. Metta!
