Take heart!
Hii Ya' all,
I am against bullying. I just wish people understand that an unkind, cruel word can wreck a life.
Bullying is a very vast term, it can be emotional or physical, verbal or non verbal. But whatever it maybe, should it be tolerated? I never could give it back to people when I was at the receiving end of derogatory comments. Soon people started to think i am weak. To be true even i didnt know if i was strong enough to punch back.
When I was a kid, I used to get bullied a lot. As grew older, during my college days, the scene didnt change a bit. I was bullied on my thin stature in college. But i am thankful to them, i took up nutrition and achieved a certain level of fitness.
My parents have always been protective about me because of my nature of getting overpowered. I have hence been raised in a very cocooned environment.
On my first day to office, I recall, I was too anxious to face new people. Before joining, i expressed my concerns to my father.
My father narrated a story from his book of life. When my father was a kid, he too was bullied by his classmates because he was the small cute kid in school. Everyday on his way back home from school, the older kids used to beat him up, tease him. Days passed into months. He was scared beyond his wits to go home from school. One fine day, older kids repeated their usual routine. My father stood on the spot, looked into the eyes of one of the bullies and mustered all the strength he could gather and gave him a blow in the stomach. Next day onwards those kids didnt bully him any longer.
My father said dont be the first to pick fights but if someone starts it, look in the eye and give it back. I have been carrying that advice ever since.
Bully are actually cowards. They are weak. They become strong because you choose to become weak. You need not give it back always but when you think they are getting into a pattern, just look into the eyes and give a punch.
Wishing you luck in punching bullies!
